If you are looking to take out travel insurance, as a NARPO member, you have access to a ‘members only’ travel insurance designed with NARPO members in mind.
In association with our partners at the Civil Service Insurance Society (CSIS) we are pleased to be able to offer a ‘fit to travel’ insurance policy via PJ Hayman, at a fixed price, for members aged between the ages of 50-79. The policy has a common renewal date of the 01st June,
The fit to travel criteria is as follows:
- Being medically fit means any existing medical conditions – including psychiatric conditions, must be stable and controlled by the treatment you are receiving and/or medication you have been prescribed. There must be no known likelihood of any specialist or specific medical tests, investigations or variation of treatment or medication for any existing medical condition(s) and you must not be awaiting surgery for a diagnosed condition unless your medical practitioner has confirmed that you are medically fit to travel, and you are not exhibiting symptoms of an existing medical condition which could mean that your trip could be cancelled or cut short. Cover is not suitable if you have been given a terminal prognosis, which is a life expectancy of below one year at the start date of the journey.
- You will not be eligible for this policy if any insured member suffers from a chronic breathing condition such as:
- Severe Allergic Asthma, Asthma with fixed airflow obstruction, Nighttime (Nocturnal) Asthma

PRO RATA UPDATE:
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing quality products at a competitive price and considering member feedback, we are pleased to announce that any members wishing to join the Over 50’s travel insurance scheme part way through the year, can now do so on a pro rata rate, ensuring those members joining part way through the year are not penalised.
This is a membership scheme with a common renewal date, so regardless of when you join the scheme, your insurance will run from that date until the renewal date of 1st June.
Once you have joined the scheme, you will be invited to automatically renew your policy on an annual basis at the full cost, so that you can travel in the knowledge that you have cover in place for your trips throughout the year.
CSIS – The insurance people who care.
*Please note that this is an annual membership insurance policy. Applicants cannot leave and rejoin the scheme in the same renewal year. See eligibility terms and conditions to ensure you are eligible for cover.
FAQ’s:
- I don’t want my cover to auto-renew, can I opt out?
Yes you can. Just contact us to let us know that you want to switch to a manual renewal. We will write to you when your policy is coming up for renewal, but it will be your responsibility to arrange a new policy to make sure you don’t have any gaps in cover. - At what points do I need to be fit to travel?
- For all cover sections except section 4 you must be medically fit to travel on the date you depart.
- For section 4 – Loss of deposit, cancellation, and curtailment you must be medically fit to travel on:
- The date you book the trip
- The date you book the trip
- When making additional deposit payments
- When you pay the final balance
- I don’t need cover for the whole year, can I cancel my policy and rejoin in the same scheme year?
This is an annual travel insurance membership scheme and has common start and end dates. The scheme is competitively priced based on these joining dates and is not intended to cover one-off individual trips.
Once joined, members cannot cancel and rejoin the scheme in the same year.
This insurance might not be suitable If you are only looking to cover a one-off trip
