Welcome to NARPO Suffolk
About Suffolk Branch
Suffolk’s comfortable lifestyle, beauty and history were appreciated by Dickens, Gainsborough, Constable and others. Bordered by an attractive coastline, its major towns of Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft lead to a selection of market towns and unspoilt villages. Unsurprising then that our Branch currently totals almost 1,200 members spread across three geographic Areas (Northern, Southern and Western) with some living outside Suffolk.
We take pride in maintaining the ‘police family’ of retired officers from Suffolk and elsewhere, widows, retired civilian support staff and people who have had a longstanding working relationship with the force.
Addressing our members’ welfare needs and providing social events for all ages and preferences mean that those policing friendships of the past are very much part of our future.
Further Key Information
Our social events prove extremely popular and include theatre trips, outings, holidays, quiz nights and lots more.
A particular initiative has been a series of booklet publications comprising short stories from members – these humorous anecdotes have generated in excess of £2,000 to benefit our welfare provision. But be quick if you want to snap up the remaining copies and contact us
Information and signposting to appropriate agencies is supported by visits, transport and other ways of delivering our dedicated welfare service.
Newsletters and e-mails provide updates but we believe that gathering together to reminisce and maintain comradeship is vital. Our annual Branch and Area meetings are business-like but always enjoyable for the social aspect and sumptuous buffet afterwards.
