Welcome to NARPO Huddersfield
About Huddersfield Branch
Huddersfield is one of the largest towns in the country. Once famous for it’s woollen, cotton, engineering and chemical industries, over the years it has evolved into a diverse range of industry and services and has a fast expanding university which is highly regarded in the educational field.
The rural outskirts of the town, has seen it’s beautiful countryside and villages become famous for the filming of a large number of television programmes and films, not least Last of the Summer Wine, two principle stars even electing to be buried locally, such was their fondness for the area!
The branch, of one eight in West Yorkshire, takes in the former Huddersfield Borough and Huddersfield West Riding divisional areas. Whilst being a relatively small branch, we have an ever increasing membership, currently standing at just over 300.
Further Key Information
The branch meets for business and lunch four times per year and this often includes a speaker. We organise two Sunday luncheons and a Christmas luncheon per year which prove to be very popular.
In 2017, we were delighted to surprise our current Vice Chairman, George Banks, with a certificate of life membership to mark his long service in a number of roles over the years.
